This Privacy Policy explains how CoworkingTown (“we”, “us”, “our”) collects, uses, and protects your personal information when you use our website at coworkingtown.com and related services. By using CoworkingTown, you agree to the practices described in this policy.

1. Information We Collect

Information you provide directly:

  • Account information — When you sign in via X (Twitter), we receive your public profile data: name, username, profile picture, and user ID.
  • Profile information — Project name, description, stage, tech stack, revenue range, goals, bio, and website you provide when setting up your profile.
  • Payment information — When you purchase a waitlist spot, payment is processed by Stripe, our third-party payment provider. We receive your email, name, and purchase confirmation. We do not store credit card numbers.

Information collected automatically:

  • Usage data — Pages visited, features used, timestamps, and interaction patterns.
  • Device information — Browser type, operating system, screen resolution, and IP address.
  • Cookies — We use essential cookies for authentication (session tokens). We do not use third-party tracking cookies.

2. How We Use Your Information

  • To provide the service — Matching you with relevant connections using our AI algorithm based on your profile, stage, stack, and goals.
  • To process payments — Completing your waitlist purchase and managing your account status.
  • To communicate with you — Sending match notifications, product updates, and essential service messages to your email.
  • To improve the platform — Analyzing usage patterns to enhance the matching algorithm and user experience.
  • To prevent abuse — Detecting and preventing fraud, spam, and violations of our Terms of Service.

3. AI Matching

Our AI matching system uses your profile information (project details, stage, stack, goals, and interests) to calculate compatibility scores with other users. This processing is essential to the core function of the service. Match results are shared only between the two matched users, and only when both parties accept the match.

4. Information Sharing

We do not sell your personal information. We share your data only in the following circumstances:

  • With your matches — When a mutual match occurs, your profile information (name, project, stage, goals) and contact details are shared with the other user.
  • Payment processors — We share necessary information with Stripe to process payments.
  • Legal requirements — We may disclose information if required by law, legal process, or government request.
  • Business transfers — In the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction.

5. Data Retention

We retain your account and profile information for as long as your account is active. If you request account deletion, we will remove your personal data within 30 days, except where retention is required by law or for legitimate business purposes (e.g., payment records for tax compliance).
